From Monday to Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
On Thursday 19th May 2022, at 6.00 pm we will host the online lecture "The Third Cataract Project in Sudan. Archaeological entanglement on the Nile Valley" held by Cédric Gobeil.

In February 2019, the Third Cataract Project has been launched under the auspices of the Egypt Exploration Society and it now continues under the management of the Museo Egizio. The main goals of this archaeological mission in Sudan are to assess how the entanglement between the Nubian and Egyptian cultures has occurred in this part of the Nile Valley, and how the archaeological landscape has shaped its occupation. Preliminary results of this work in progress show that the situation is far more complex than as it looked at first sight. Many archaeological evidence such as settlements, necropolises, and workshops, indicate that this area was intensively used at a moment when a channel of the Nile, nowadays dried, was active.

The lecture will be introduced by Johannes Auenmüller, curator of Museo Egizio.

It will be broadcast via streaming on the Museum's Facebook page and Youtube channel
