From December 16 to 18, 2024, Turin will become the center of international discussions not only on archaeology and ancient Egypt but also on the role of museums in the 21st century. To celebrate the 200th anniversary of the Museo Egizio, over 70 renowned scholars, including museum directors, university professors, and other experts such as archaeologists, historians, and archivists, will gather at the Museo Egizio to discuss the present and future of archaeology and museums.
The symposium offers a unique opportunity to address some of the most pressing topics: from museum displays to the protection and promotion of cultural heritage, from archaeological site management to technological innovations revolutionizing research and cultural engagement. Special attention will be given to creating new narratives and languages to engage increasingly diverse audiences.
The 12 thematic round tables will provide in-depth discussions on topics such as:
The program will culminate in a round table featuring Christian Greco, director of the Museo Egizio, and several directors of international museums, engaging in an open dialogue on the evolving role of museums in the contemporary world.
Presentations will be held in Italian and English.
