The lecture notes from the university courses in Egyptology by Prof. Ernesto Scamuzzi (1899–1974) are available at the “Silvio Curto” Library of the Museo Egizio.

After assuming the directorship of the Museo Egizio in 1946, Scamuzzi oversaw the return of the Egyptian collections, which had been safeguarded from World War II bombings at the Ducal Castle of Agliè since 1943. Scamuzzi was the key figure in reopening the museum in record time, achieving this by September 1946.

Since November 1948, in addition to his role as director, Ernesto Scamuzzi also took on the position of professor of Egyptology at the University of Turin, with his first lecture held on November 25, 1948.

The content of his teachings is known through numerous booklets prepared as guides and support for his lessons, accompanied by handwritten notes. Over the years, these texts were enriched and updated, including bibliographic references, reflecting ongoing and sustained research activity. The lecture materials demonstrate the breadth of his teaching approach, covering all aspects of the subject: history, language, religion, art, architecture, and archaeology.

Access to these materials offers an important opportunity for the academic community and anyone interested in consulting them. It is satisfying to think that this initiative to make the materials available continues the public outreach that Ernesto Scamuzzi himself began in 1963 with the publication of the *Museo Egizio di Torino*, the first small descriptive guide to the collection, for which he personally wrote the scientifically precise and easy-to-read descriptions of the artifacts.

The booklets, revised and organized, are available at a workstation in the Museo Egizio Library, which can be accessed by appointment by writing to biblioteca.egizio@museoegizio.it.

Our thanks go to Prof. Sergio Scamuzzi, who generously entrusted the Museo Egizio with his father’s private archive.
