From Monday to Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Intesa Sanpaolo, through its museum Gallerie d’Italia - Turin, and the Museo Egizio, unveiled today "Paesaggi/Landscapes," a cultural project conceived by the Museo Egizio where photography and video art intersect with archaeology and ancient Egypt.
This initiative, curated by Egyptologist Enrico Ferraris, is part of a three-year agreement between the Fondazione Museo delle Antichità Egizie and Intesa Sanpaolo to promote the development and dissemination of culture and art.
From June 13 to August 31, 2024, Gallerie d’Italia – Turin will feature an immersive installation, accessible for free, and a series of open-access dialogues bringing together photographers, artists, and Egyptologists. The central theme of the initiative is the dichotomy between real and imaginary landscapes in archaeological and photographic research.
Every morning, Gallerie d'Italia – Turin will host a video representing a sort of stream of consciousness in images and sounds, through which the Museo Egizio explores the limits and fragility of historical and landscape reconstructions. Visitors will be virtually transported from the center of Turin to Egypt, into distant atmospheres both in time and geography, to reflect on the new frontiers of archaeology through a multidisciplinary and interactive approach.
Drone footage and modern technologies, produced in Egypt by Robin Studio in collaboration with the Museo Egizio and curated by 8 Egyptologists, will offer a visual translation of archaeologists' multidisciplinary research and reflections on artifacts, their spatio-temporal connections, and the landscape, in a kind of journey backward from modern Egypt to fragments of memory, archaeological remnants, and their interpretations.
Furthermore, "Paesaggi/Landscapes" will feature a series of 4 dialogues between photographers, video artists, and Egyptologists from June 19 to July 10:
June 19, 2024 – 6:30 PM
Landscape, between material and immaterial
Francesco Jodice | Christian Greco
June 27, 2024 – 6:00 PM
People and landscapes – Connections between history and photojournalism
Rehab Eldalil | Johannes Auenmüller
July 3, 2024 – 6:30 PM
From landscapes to museums and back
Sara Sallam | Paolo Del Vesco
July 10, 2024 – 6:30 PM
The museum as a landscape
Elisa Sighicelli | Michele Lanzinger
