When was the strike invented?
Christian Greco, the museum Director, discusses it in the third episode of "Invisible Geniuses" (Season III), a podcast by Massimo Sideri.
It happened in 1155 BC, during the reign of Ramesses III. The source is a papyrus preserved in the Museo Egizio, known as the Strike Papyrus. "Not having received their wages for two months, the workers of the necropolis living in Deir el-Medina refused to work. They left the necropolis and crossed their arms. We can consider this a strike in every sense."
You can listen to the entire episode HERE.
