Material culture tells the story of people who lived thousands of years ago, but it is also a vital record for understanding who we are today, how we can find our place in the present, and how we can face the future. For the Museo Egizio, scientific research is the essential condition for caring for the collection: it is the key that allows us to study artefacts, reconstruct their context, and understand their biography.

Among the fields in which the Museum is actively engaged are archaeological missions in Egypt and Sudan, which are fundamental for bringing new evidence to light and deepening our knowledge of both the collection and ancient Egypt.

By sharing the results of its archaeological missions—from excavation diaries to scholarly publications, as well as talks and dedicated in-depth events—the Museum makes field research and its discoveries accessible to everyone.
